Position Title: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Reports To: Chief Operating Officer
Position Location: Riverdale
Position Summary: Oversees the fiscal function of the council in accordance with generally accepted accounting and financial principles and regulations.
Primary Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
  • Supports the Chief Operating Officer and the Chief Executive Officer by ensuring that resource allocation and utilization reflect
        and facilitate the achievement of council goals established by the Board of Directors.
  • Works in cooperation with the Chief Operating Officer and the Chief Executive Officer to develop the council's budget.
  • Administers and monitors operating plans and budgets.
  • Maintains control of the council's finances.
  • Manages the accounts and all financial records.
  • Oversees the payroll and benefit functions.
  • Oversees the council's retail shop.
  • Oversees the maintenance of the council's properties in conjunction with the lead ranger.
  • Manages and protects the assets of the council including investments, property insurance, liability insurance, and compliance
        with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Actively participate in the strategic learning process, develop and oversee budgets and provide reports.
  • Participate as a member of the senior management team and assist in making decisions on the operation of the council.
        Implement the decisions made by the senior management team as they relate to areas supervised.
  • Contribute to the EEO goals of the council by assuring that the religious, racial, ethnic, social and economic diversity
        of the area is reflected in volunteer/employed staff positions and program participants.

  • Ability to meet timelines, deadlines and other critical time sensitive demands and adheres to GSUSA and GSNNJ's Policies
        & Procedures.

  • Education, Skills, Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and equivalent related experience (minimum five years)
  • Knowledge of Sage MIP Fund Accounting software preferred.
  • Ability to plan and organize multiple tasks during short time periods
  • Creative thinker with good communications and human relations skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Membership in GSUSA is required
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to travel throughout the jurisdiction to attend Girl Scout meetings during the day/evening/weekend

  • Position Title: Membership Development Associate
    Reports To: Regional Director of respective site
    Position Location: Paramus, Randolph or Riverdale
    Position Summary: Implements and manages girl and adult membership growth and retention plans within the geographic area served.
    Primary Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
  • Collaborates with the CPO, Regional Director and their counterparts to identify and carry out best practices for girl and
        adult membership growth and retention to achieve the membership and diversity goals of the council in an assigned
        geographic area.
  • To achieve growth and retention, manage volunteer structures/service, implement marketing and recruitment strategies and
        provide excellence in planning management.
  • Develops alternate recruitment strategies as needed by recommending flexible, versatile and responsive ways of work
        resources and tools to extend Girl Scouting through outreach and community collaborators.
  • Works to meet the membership goals established for the geographic area
  • Contributes to the EEO goals of the council by assuring that the religious, racial, ethnic, social and economic diversity of the
        area is reflected in volunteer/employed staff positions and program participants

  • Employee Role in Advancement Efforts:
    Each employee is a representative of Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey. Others form their impressions of GSNNJ based, in part, on their interaction with employees. Every personal contact made by a GSNNJ employee could be a current or potential donor; thus these impressions can influence donor actions. Each employee is expected to take an active role in development by being alert to opportunities to identify potential new donors and providing contact information to the Vice President of Advancement/Marketing. On occasion, employees may be asked to participate in site visits and/or follow-up calls with contacts.

    Education, Skills, Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in related field
  • Experience member-based organizations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional time management capability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to lift and move 50 pounds
  • Membership in GSUSA is required
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to travel throughout the jurisdiction to attend Girl Scout meetings during the day/evening/weekend
